Friend of the Center, Melanie Donnelly, is Rhode Island's American Idol!
Melanie's Bio:
Melanie Donnelly is a sixteen year old high school junior from North Kingstown. She loves to sing and has been doing so since she was four years old. She has performed at various places both locally and nationally. Melanie has performed at the Apollo Theater (New York City), Foxwoods Casino, Mohegan Sun, Cape Cod Melody Tent, Oakdale Theater (Connecticut,) and the Marriott Hotel (New York City.) Melanie also attended the national North American Country Music Awards in Tennessee, and was awarded first place along with the title of “Best Country Gospel Vocalist.”
Some local venues in which she has performed include- True Brew Café, Washington County Fair, Carriage Inn Restaurant, Autumn Festival, the Stadium Theater, Ryan Center, URI Boss Arena, and McCoy Stadium. In addition, Melanie has also performed in regional and community theatre in shows such as: A Christmas Carol at Trinity Repertory Co., Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Theater-by-the-Sea, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Babes in Arms, Fame and many more. She has also achieved the honors of placing in the RI All-State Choruses for two years in a row. At her high school she enjoys being the vocalist in the Senior Jazz Band, and participating in the school Musicals and Drama productions and a member of the nationally recognized E.D.T.A. Thespian Association. Melanie would like to thank all of her family and friends for supporting and guiding her in everything she does.
