Quebec's "Envoye a Maison" | Sept. 27, 2008 Quebec's "Envoye à Maison" - A Franco-American Homecoming - is a cultural exchange project celebrating the 400th anniversary of Quebec City and creating bonds between Québec and the states of New York, Vermont, and Rhode Island through a series of performances, workshops and crafts demonstrations by artists from both sides of the border. Taking place in six different venues between June and October 2008, the event visited Rhode Island on September 27, 2008 with an afternoon when artisans demonstrating their skills from at St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center, Cumberland St. Woonsocket and later that evening Le Foyer hosted a live musical and Canadian Dinner at Le Foyer Club, 151 Fountain St. Pawtucket.
The project was managed by Winnie Lambrecht from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts in partnership with the Centre de Valorisation du Patrimoine Vivant in Quebec City and the Corporation Les Vieux Métiers, métiers vivants, in Longueuil, the New York State Council on the Arts, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York and the Vermont Folklife Center. Sponsors include the National Endowment for the Arts, the Quebec Government, le Centre de Valorisation du Patrimoine vivant, the New York State Council on the Arts, Traditional Arts in Upstate New York, the Crandall Public Library and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. |
